Passport requirements in Indonesia depend on your purpose of travel, the type of visa you are applying for, and how long you plan to stay in Indonesia. You may need to apply for a visa before you leave your country of residence or you can get one on arrival at select points of entry.
Citizens of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States can enter Indonesia with their passport without a visa. Those with other nationalities must obtain an Indonesian visa before leaving their country of citizenship perpanjangan paspor.
You need a valid
passport and at least six months of validity remaining in order to enter
Indonesia. Failure to comply with this requirement is grounds for denial of
entry at Indonesian border checkpoints.
Your passport must
have at least two blank pages for the placement of the visa or entry stamp that
is required by Indonesian law. This is a strict requirement and Indonesian
border agents routinely deny entry to travellers who do not follow this rule.
You must also show
proof of full vaccination, either a European Union Digital COVID Certificate or
an immunization record from your home country. Vaccines can be purchased in
Indonesia, but it is best to bring the originals from your home country.
If you are an
Australian or New Zealand citizen, you can enter Indonesia with your existing
passport if it is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry. However,
if you need to renew your passport before you travel, you will need to complete
an application form and provide documents showing you have a job offer or
business in Indonesia.
Those with valid
Australian, Canadian or New Zealand passports can apply for a visa in advance
or on arrival at select points of entry. You will need to provide a letter from
the sponsoring organization in Indonesia and a copy of your current passport
and onward ticket.
A multiple visit visa
is available to foreigners who travel frequently to Indonesia for family,
business and government visits. It is issued in the Indonesian Embassy or
Consulates and requires an Application/Guarantee Letter, passport with minimum
18 months validity and a copy of bank accounts.
The application
process can take up to 8 weeks to complete. Expedited renewals are also
available, but they come with an additional charge.
There are two types
of visas for foreigners visiting Indonesia: a visitor’s visa and a transit
visa. A visitor’s visa is required if you are travelling for tourism or
business purposes and will remain in the country for less than 30 days.
Visitors’ visas can
be obtained in advance at the nearest Indonesian Embassy or Consulate or on
arrival at selected airports and seaports. The Visas-on-Arrival (KITAS) are
granted on arrival at selected airports, including Jakarta, Bali, Banda Aceh,
Medan, Padang, Surabaya and Pontianak.
KITAS holders whose
stay permit is expiring must apply for an extension through a sponsor before
they leave the country. This is done by submitting the application and
supporting documents to an immigration office with the name of the sponsor
attached.
